Lantern Dance Theatre Company School
Training together as one group is at the centre of the company’s activity. It creates an environment that is safe and stimulating at the same time: fun, hard work, supportive & challenging for everyone.
All our members sign up to our Code of Practice, which is about health, safety, professionalism and mutual respect. Our training methods have been developed especially for integrated groups. We endorse and use Dance UK’s Healthier Dancer and Healthier Dance Company guidelines. The company is a corporate member of Dance UK.
Our company class takes place in Ely on Wednesday evenings. With the support of The Junction, we’re delighted to be able to offer two new weekly classes in Cambridge, starting in the autumn of 2006. Carers are welcome to attend and join in.

COLOUR, MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Integrated Art & Performance Projects
for Special and Mainstream Schools.
The company’s Artistic Director Helen Pettit, Rehearsal Assistant Alessandra Wellen and Video Artist Arvon Wellen are the creative force behind the extremely successful SEN school project Colour Music and Movement, originally devised by them for Highfield School, Ely, in 2004 and funded in part by an Arts in Schools Bursary from Cambridgeshire County Council. The company has all the resources needed to create and run arts projects involving dance, music and visual arts. Enquiries to jonathan@ldtc.org.uk
From Cambridgeshire County Council’s website:
“This arts project was designed to integrate the experience of painting, movement and music.
60 pupils worked in small groups to create a ‘wall of colour’ which provided the backdrop for a performance to the school assembly.
The project enabled SEN pupils to produce a new sensory experience, and a video diary was made to record their discoveries. The student achievement record shows increased levels of skills levels in colour use, movement, imagination, group working and, particularly, in self-discipline.”
