"An award wining dance company.... The Lantern Dance will perform their acclaimed show, Spiritus, in the cathedral's Lady Chapel.... The special one-hour performance will include new works by young dancers along with the appearance of guest artists. The show follows the company's sell-out performance of Prokofiev's ballet, The Stone Flower, at the Maltings earlier this year, which attracted worldwide media attention for the 88-year old star John Lowe. The Witchford grandfather-of-eleven, who began dancing at the age of 79, appeared on TV and radio shows across the world inclusing This Morning with Richard and Judy, after his ballet dancing skills were first spotted by the Weekly News."
Weekly News Thursday August 21, 2008
The performance was the result of a week-long intensive workshop in which 21 dancers took part, learning and preparing to perform a lot of new work. This year's Spiritus features new choreography by three young dance makers in the group. Tim Rayne, Rebecca Rowson and Ella Joel. It's great to see such creative work by these core members of the company, and great to see new people join the company for the occasion.
